Family Medicine Midwest Meets Minneapolis

The third annual Family Medicine Midwest conference kicks off next Friday, October 10, in Minneapolis. Join us for three days of family medicine networking, education, and advocacy.

What is Family Medicine Midwest?

The Family Medicine Midwest conference was designed to help identify and support Midwest students interested in family medicine.

Conference aims:

  • Showcase Midwest family medicine residencies
  • Provide a forum for scholarly work and research presentations
  • Highlight community-based practice and best practice sharing
  • Promote cooperative and collaborative health care innovation

The third annual conference will be held October 10-12, 2014, at Radisson Blu Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 

What to Expect This Year

This year's theme is Innovate and Invigorate. We are honored to have North Memorial residency faculty Andrew Slattengren, DO, chairing the conference committee. 

Event highlights: 
  • 75 peer-reviewed educational sessions and posters
    • Topics range from osteopathic manipulation to interprofessional care to underserved medicine to addressing vaccination concerns and beyond 
  • Representation from 44 family medicine residency programs
    • Opportunities to network during residency speed dating lunch or in the exhibit hall
  • Pre-conference sessions on hot topics 
    • Topics include global health, maternal care, and population health

Connect With Us

A number of University of Minnesota medical students, residents, and faculty will be giving presentations, leading workshops, and presenting posters. Representatives from our eight family medicine residencies will also be exhibiting at the conference and meeting with medical students.
