2016 UMN Family Medicine Residency Grads: By the Numbers

In 2016, 55 medical residents graduated from University of Minnesota family medicine residency programs. An update on where those graduates are practicing or pursuing additional training follows.

Practice/Training Locations

Our graduates are currently practicing or pursuing additional training in the following locations.

• 36 (65%) - Stayed in Minnesota
• 9 (16%) - Stayed in Midwest
• 4 - Went West (Colorado, Oregon, and Nevada)
• 3 - Went East (Ohio, South Carolina, and New Hampshire) 
• 2 - Went out of the country (Zambia and New Zealand)
• 1 - Went South (Texas)

Of our 55 graduates, four of them went into fellowship programs in sports medicine (2), hospice and palliative medicine (1), and sleep medicine (1).

All other graduates pursued roles that were either hospital-based or private practice with health systems, medical centers, and clinics.
